Whangamata Surf Shop is a family owned and operated business situated in the heart of Whangamata. Voted New Zealand's No1 favourite beach. The William's family took over the business in 2002, however, the Surf Shop itself has over 40+ years of history and is the oldest surf shop in the area! The Williams Family Dean , Janine , Braedon ,Ella , Brooke , Taygen & Kaida have always had a love for surfing Ella is our First NZ Women Olympian & World Junior Champion. Ella Represented NZ In Tokyo 2020 where she placed 9th in the world.
The William's Family
The Williams family have surfing in their blood. Dean & Janine have been around surfing since before they can remember and took over the Whangamata Surf Shop in 2002. Their Son & Daughter, Braedon & Ella also share their passion for surfing and work in the family run business.
Dean & Janine Williams
Dean and Janine have owned Whangamata Surf Shop for 24 years. They originally brought the shop of Bob and Mary Davies and built it up to
what it is today.
Both are lifelong surfers who moved to Whangamata in 2002, they purchased Whangamata Surf Shop to build a lifestyle and business based on their passion and love of surfing.
Ella Williams
Ella's passion for surfing, lead to her achieving a World Junior Title in 2013 and was crowned ASP World Women's Junior Champion, Ella was NZs First Women To represent New Zealand For the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 Where she placed 9th In the world. Her progression from that has seen her surfing the globe, following the WSL QS Tour, enabling her to surf and experience amazing destinations and cultures.

Braedon Williams
Braedon lives and breathes everything surfing. He competed for many years racking up a solid contest CV, then concentrated on free surfing, chasing the best swells with NZ's top photographers.
He continues to charge and is usually found on the wave of the day wherever he's surfing. His love and passion for the sport have led him to now manage Whangamata Surf Shop. He is passionate about helping customers find the right hardware to make their experience as enjoyable as possible. His knowledge and experience are invaluable to surfers of any level, from beginners to professionals.
Together the family work in store. They are passionate about giving you the best experience, finding you what you need and sharing their knowledge and love of the ocean.
Whangamata is well known for its world-class bar, amazing beach, and panoramic views. The Paradise Coast On The Coromandel Is the place to be. The area has plenty to offer when you are out of the water, including amazing coastal walks, swimming holes, a mountain bike park and plenty of shops, cafe's and restaurants.
